Crossing the Finish Line

Thrive Christian Church, previously Central Christian Church in Carmel, Indiana planned to relocate their growing congregation to Westfield, Indiana seemingly in the middle of nowhere on an 80-acre farm field. Utilities such as water being 1000’ east of the property, wetlands on site and a very flat terrain, the site design had its challenges from the beginning. Thrive only needed 20 acres for their site, so coordination with CalAtlantic Homes was involved to split off 60 acres and share water main costs for a neighboring residential subdivision, Liberty Ridge. The wetlands were either mitigated or avoided. In order to provide the dirt needed to fill the site up for better drainage as well as provide the required storm water detention volume for the site, a wet detention basin was created, which also provided an aesthetically pleasing water feature for this congregation to utilize. Weihe Engineers is proud to have been a part of Thrive’s story, new location and mission to better reach this newly developing area of Hamilton County.
